WINCHESTER’S most popular annual running event saw 1,744 runners cross the finish line as it returned on Sunday.
High winds and heavy rain threatened to cancel the 10k, now in its 37th year, but event director Kelly Wickens said that organisers pulled off some quick amendments to keep it on.
She said: "We faced a number of challenges, however brilliant team work ensured this event could place.
"There were so many smiles and achievements made out on the course it makes us proud to be a part of their journey.
"There were so many amazing stories including a large group running for their friend fighting cancer raising over £2,500."
The 10k supported The Samaritans and The Courage Foundation.
