A NEW Banksy-style mural has appeared in Southampton.

The artwork has been created on a wall in Mount Pleasant Road in Southampton, but residents are unsure of when it first appeared.

It shows the figure of a child holding a balloon with the words "our future" sprayed across the top.

Daily Echo:

It features an almost identical figure to one in Bevois Valley that the Daily Echo revealed to be the work of Banksy in November 2010, and artwork at New Century Bingo in Shirley Road.

The artwork discovered on Shirley Road in 2011 was surrounded by doubt from an art industry insider who said that it was "unlikely" to be Banksy.

One resident said: "I wouldn't be able to say when it was done, you see so much graffiti here, there and everywhere in these parts of the city."

Another added: "I really hope it is Banksy, I think that would be a nice focus-point for this area."

The artwork on Mount Pleasant Road is yet to be confirmed as a Banksy piece.

Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artists and political activist who is famous all around the world.
