A HAMPSHIRE motorway has reopened after hundreds of litres of diesel gushed out on to the carriageway.
The M3 northbound between J10 and J9 reopened at around 11pm last night after being resurfaced.
Emergency services closed the motorway after an accident involving a lorry in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident happened when a lorry suffered a serious break down between junctions 10 and 9.
According to the Highways Agency the drive shaft had fallen from the vehicle and ruptured its fuel tank.
As a result 600 litres of diesel spilled across the carriageway.
Another vehicle then collided with the the drive shaft with the road has shut for most of yesterday to allow for the clear up operation.
