A HAMPSHIRE man died after a diagnosis of a rare form of cancer, an inquest heard.
Andrew Jemmett was diagnosed with mesothelioma during his life and was taken to the Countess of Mountbatten House for palliative care.
Mr Jemmett, of Devonshire Gardens, Bursledon, died at the hospice on February 26.
At an inquest opening area coroner said that 81-year-old Mr Jemmett was identified by a staff nurse who know him at the hospice.
A preliminary cause of death has been given as malignant plural mesothelioma - usually caused by exposure to asbestos - and pulmonary embolysis.
Mr Pegg adjourned the inquest and full hearing will take place on June 25 at Winchester Coroner's Court.
