A COMMUNITY organisation in Southampton have received a £2,000 grant, thanks the Daily Echo's parent company.
The Gannett Foundation, run by Gannett, owners of Echo publishers Newsquest, supports non profit activities within the communities of businesses that they support.
This time, the foundation has supported Oasis Southampton City Farm.
Located on Green Lane, Southampton, the farm is open seven days a week and hosts a number of school visits and visits for people with disabilities.
There are currently 50 volunteers working at the farm, led by farm manager, Russell Farley.
He said: "It is fantastic for Oasis Southampton City Farm to be supported by the Gannett Foundation and their generous donation of £2,000. We have a number of older buildings that are used daily with a whole range of different community groups and are in need of renovation and repairs. This money will help us carry out these essential works, whilst continuing to offer the range of activities we offer to the wider community. It makes such a difference in achieving our goals by having the Gannett Foundation actively supporting and taking an interest in the aims of our city farm."
