RESIDENTS are being reminded to file their feedback to new on-street parking changes.

New changes to on-street parking changes in Test Valley, including the doubling of price for residents' parking permits.

This change includes Hampshire County Council taking Test Valley Borough Council's on-street parking responsibilities.

Test Valley Borough Councillor, John Parker, said: "They are planning to make various changes to the controlled parking areas including increasing the cost of a resident's parking permit from £15 to £30 this year and subsequently up to £50.

"They will also be moving from paper parking permits to electronic ones and changing the rules about visitor parking permits.

"At this stage these are only proposals but I get the feeling that they are likely to be taken forward unless there is a concerted campaign to the contrary."

Councillor John Parker has reminded residents that you can object to the new proposals up until March 27, with the changes set to be introduced on April 1.

Among the plans, HCC will pilot a number of on-street electric vehicle charging points to help meet increasing demand for electric vehicles.

Executive member for economy, transport and environment at HCC, cllr Rob Humby, said: “A well-managed on-street parking service plays an important part in keeping our roads safe and our towns and villages moving.

“However, where there is managed parking on the highway, there is a cost involved and I’m afraid it’s simply not sustainable for resources meant for highways maintenance across the county to be used to subsidise parking for some at the expense of all Hampshire council taxpayers.”

Other areas affected by the changes include Gosport and Fareham.
