ALL Hampshire recycling centres are to be closed today to help tackle the coronavirus outbreak.
Following the Prime Minister's announcement last night, Hampshire County Council has decided to close all Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) until further notice.
Yesterday, in a Tweet, the council said that due to "a huge increase in the number of people" visiting Hampshire’s HWRC they had to introduce restrictions to allow sites to remain open and operate safely.
But this morning, the council announced that all sites will be closing today.
It comes after Boris Johnson announced new restrictions last night, describing the UK coronavirus as "the biggest threat this country has faced for decades".
Due to the new restrictions, people will only be allowed to leave their house for; shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible; one form of exercise a day - for example a run, walk, or cycle, alone or with members of their household; any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person; and travelling to and from work, but only where it is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home
