A MOTHER-of-two has been left "disgusted" after she discovered bids for child paracetamol Calpol of £3,300 online.

Kate Furmage, 35, worries for the health of her two sons as panic-buying left shop shelves without the pain and fever reliever.

The special needs teacher discovered the bid when she took to online retailer eBay, to find buyers were bidding to buy Calpol for thousands of pounds.

While average prices for the product are around £5 in stores, most of its products are selling for between £10 to £200 online.

Kate, from Bitterne, said: “As a mum of two boys, I worry for their health, especially during this pandemic. I checked our cupboards and have one open bottle and have offered to share with those in need.

“Kind friends have offered too if they have any spare. But for people to make money at a time like this is disgusting.

"It has to be a joke."

Her sister-in-law Becky Murray, from Romsey, said her Calpol order from Lloyds Pharmacy had been cancelled due to the product being out of stock.

She said: “I just feel some of the country are abiding by the rules set out. Then you have the panic-buying people who selfishly raided the supermarkets and chemists to buy unnecessary medicine, to then profit from a crisis.

A statement on eBay’s website reads: “We’re aware of reports that some sellers are charging unreasonable prices for certain items on eBay. We encourage our community to report listings they suspect of unfair pricing to us.”
