CELEBRATED rockers Band of Skulls are sharing songs from a special hometown concert with their fans for free during lockdown.

The Southampton duo, who are in demand around the globe but always show that home is where the heart is with Southampton shows and collaborations, were joined by a 24 piece orchestra from the Space Between Collective at the then new NST City venue two years ago.

Eagles of Death Metal and The Whigs drummer Julian Dorio, who temporarily replaced former founder member Matt Hayward, was also on stage with Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson.

This is the first time fans not able to attend the sought after sold out concert have had the chance to see snippets of music from the stripped back acoustic show.

The material, which is being released bit by bit on the Band of Skulls You Tube channel at 6pm each night, includes their version of It's Great To Be Back in Southampton, a Saints fans favourite containing the lyrics "what's on there mush, how's your nipper?" and Nearer, My God, to Thee, which was reportedly played by the string ensemble on RMS Titanic as the ship went down.

Epic orchestra arrangements explore material from all four of their albums before Love Is All You Love, which was released last year.

Tracks from Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, Sweet Sour, Himalayan and By Default were showcased alongside

Emma and Russell said: "We hope this will keep your spirits up, and the boredom at bay just a little bit more.

"This show is on us, helping you to stay home and stay safe."

The music has received rave reviews from fans from across the globe. One viewer said the videos had really helped to lift his spirits during this time of uncertainty.

Music from Band of Skulls has been used for everything from Hollywood movies like The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Hangover Part II to top video games including Guitar Hero and Gran Turismo 5, via the popular TV shows Gossip Girl and Britain's Next Top Model.

They've appeared on Later...with Jools Holland and were the subject of a Channel 4 documentary showcasing their journey from jamming in Southampton bars to global tours.

Band of Skulls have played Glastonbury and supported Stereophonics.
