THE transport services from One Community have been put on hold, due to government guidelines making it "almost impossible" to safely operate the services.

Like many community transport operators, One Community is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain services such as Dial-A-Ride, ParishLink and Hedge End Park and Group Transport in the present climate.

One Community's joint funders, Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council have asked them to temporarily suspend their current services, and refocus them to support the community in other ways, such as taking people essential supplies.

A One Community spokesperson said: "Along with many other Community Transport Operators, One Community Transport is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the current contracted services in this present climate. The government guidelines on social distancing has made it almost impossible to operate these services safely.

"Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council have asked us to temporarily suspend our current services and instead refocus, using our resources to support our current users in other ways, such as taking essential supplies to them. We are already doing this and have been contacting our clients by telephone so that we can help with shopping and collecting prescriptions."
