FIREFIGHTERS raced to the M40 in the early hours of this morning where a lorry carrying flowers had overturned.

Four crews from High Wycombe, Watlington and a specialist rescue team from Kidlington were called to the scene of the accident to help the driver who was trapped in the cab of the vehicle.

Working closely with paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service they used hydraulic equipment to free them.

The driver was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital for full checks.

The collision closed the motorway at Junction 6 northbound around 2.40am but traffic was diverted under the junction and back on.
