THE UK’s number one amusement park has postponed its opening of an Americana-themed family attraction.

Paultons Park, based in Romsey, was originally set to open to all families and visitors this May.

But the launch of the Tornado Springs land has been delayed until Easter 2021.

The four-acre land of attractions at the park - and home of Peppa Pig World - has faced “insurmountable challenges” to complete the build in the face of the Covid-19 lockdown.

Richard Mancey, managing director of Paultons Park, said: “The decision to delay the opening of Tornado Springs to 2021 has been very difficult to make, particularly as so many of our guests have been eagerly looking forward to enjoying the new rides and attractions.

“We know how disappointing this postponement will be, to both our guests and our staff.

“After eighteen months of hard work it is very hard to accept that the attraction will not open this year, particularly when it is so close to completion.”

Paultons Park closed on March 20 in response to Covid-19.

Richard added: “With no work taking place on site at present and with no clear idea of when the specialist contractors from several European countries will be able to recommence work, we felt that this was our only option.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming guests back to Paultons Park once cleared to re-open."

Based around a fictional 1950’s midwestern town, it will become its fifth themed land, offering over seven new rides and attractions.
