A FIRE scorched through an acre of gorse in the New Forest on Thursday.
The incident on the Forestry Commission land near Sway was reported to the fire service at 11.15am.
Responding to reports of a small fire in the open, crews from Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Burley attended the scene.
A Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said approximately one acre of gorse was completely destroyed by the blaze.
The fire was extinguished using three hose reel jets and beaters. Crews handed the scene over to the the Forestry Commission and left the area at 1.04pm.
