THE number of deaths after patients tested positive for coronavirus in Hampshire has risen to 408.

A further nine people have died across the region since yesterday, according to figures released by the NHS.

This includes statistics covering the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

In total, 123 people have now lost their lives under the care of UHS, with an increase of three deaths in the last 24 hours.

While three more hospital patients at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have died since yesterday, bringing the total to 102.

The trust handles Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Alton Community Hospital.

At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, 172 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus, which has had two deaths since yesterday.

A total of 11 people have died at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, an increase of one death in 24 hours.

Across the UK, 17,373 hospital patients have now lost their lives after testing positive for coronavirus, with a rise of 587 since yesterday.
