Instead of being behind their desks for a new term, 200 youngsters took lessons from a soccer genius on April 23, 1990.
Bobby Charlton Enterprises teamed up with British Gas Southern to give school kids a feast of sporting fun at Eastleigh's Fleming Park Leisure Centre.
England's most famous footballer was taking his action packed sports day on a nationwide tour at the time. As well as soccer, the Eastleigh timetable included tennis, badminton, hockey, swimming and dance.
Children between nine and 13 and from all backgrounds and abilities, were invited to take part in the sports session, supervised by Bobby and a team of professional coaches.
Charlton would have been delighted if his sports schools helped produce another George Best, but he said they were not aiming to make a superstar in a day.
