POLICE have raided two Southampton address as part of a crackdown on drugs.

Officers swooped on properties in Malwood Avenue seizing a bag of cannabis and several mobile phones.

Taking place at around 4pm on Thursday, the raid in Bassett was reportedly part of Operation Fortress which was set up by Hampshire Police to tackle gun and knife crime in Southampton.

A police spokesperson said: "Two drug warrants were executed at premises in Malwood Avenue.

"A number of items were seized by officers who are continuing their investigations.

"Among the items were several mobile phones and a small bag containing what police believe to be cannabis."

Anyone with any information is urged to call police on 101 quoting crime reference number 44200153156.

Meanwhile, residents concerned about drug dealing in their area are urged to call police on 101 or via the Crimestoppers website anonymously.

No arrests were made, however, police investigations are ongoing.

As previously reported officers raided addresses in Maritime Avenue, Marchwood and Wilverley Place, Blackfield as part of Operation Fortress.

Police seized evidence and arrested three people during the raids on Thursday, April 16.

A 58-year-old man from Marchwood and a 30-year-old man from Blackfield were both arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug, production a controlled drug of class B, and permit use of a premises for drug supply.

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man rom Holbury was arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drug, possession of class A drug, and supply of a class B drug.

All three men have been questioned and released under investigation.

Enquiries are ongoing.
