GENTLY, the new 35ft ocean racing yacht Yeoman slips into the River Itchen from the Camper and Nicholson yard at Northam, Southampton in June, 1950.

Workers at the yard stood and watched as the craft entered the river after being named by June Aisher, daughter of Owen Aisher, the yacht’s owner.

Yeoman’s sister craft, Taiseer IV, which was also built by the Northam yard for Group Captain R Barton, commandant of Air Service Training at Hamble, was launched a few days later
