MP Ranil Jayawardena has been asked by the Prime Minister to serve as trade minister during the pandemic.
The conservative MP has been the Member of Parliament for North East Hampshire since May 2015 and the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party since 2020.
The MP tweeted: "It’s a great privilege to have been asked by Boris Johnson to serve as a trade minister at this crucial time. I look forward to meeting with Liz Truss to underpin the government's agenda for 'Global Britain'. Much to do."
MP Jonathan Gullis said: "Well done and well deserved."
Another commented: "Congratulations Ranil. Thank you all for your work for conservatives."
