The University of Southampton built a theatre on it campus which was officially opened by Dame Sybil Thorndike on March 2, 1964.
On November 1, 1982, it became an independent producing theatre known as Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST).
NST opened a second venue, NST City on February 16, 2018, where it was billed as the “jewel in the crown” of Southampton's multi-million pound Cultural Quarter.
