A CITY bus company is to increase the frequency of buses that serve Southampton General Hospital in a bid to support key workers.
Bluestar is to increase the frequency of buses on its 17 and 18 routes, which serve Southampton General Hospital, from next week.
From Monday, May 11, the local operator’s buses will run approximately every 15 minutes throughout the day - Monday to Friday.
The move, which is in response to increased demand, will help to ensure those using the services are able to maintain social distancing.
Nikki Honer, Bluestar head of communications, said: "We know how important our Bluestar 17 and 18 routes are - particularly for those working at the hospital.
“Recently, we have noticed higher numbers of passengers using the services, so we are responding with more buses.
“As well as key workers who are based at Southampton General Hospital, we know people are attending appointments there that are unrelated to COVID-19. We are here for them too.
“We will continue to keep a close eye on the number of people travelling with us across the city - and we are ready to respond accordingly to ensure social distancing.”
