A NUMBER of drivers were caught parked on zig zags outside takeaway premises on Charminster Road.

When stopped by police, one driver said: “I thought it was okay as I was getting food.”

Other excuses given to police were: “I thought you just couldn’t park on the crossing.

“You can only just see the lines so I thought it was okay.

“I thought as it was a bank holiday it didn’t apply.”

All drivers received three points on their licence and a £100 fine.

An officer from Dorset Police's No Excuse Team said none of the drivers were able to tell police why the zig zags were there and they were given on the spot education.
