Proud volunteers are showing off the wildlife that has arrived in Hammonds Pond for another year.

Over the last few months parks have been closed and restrictions have been in place however the Friends of Hammonds Pond have been keeping residents up to date with the goings on in the park.

Hammonds Pond has been a popular meeting point in the Upperby area for decades and returning for another year are the sets of breeding swans. Park-goers are now able to spot six cygnets swimming with their parents.

A spokesman for the volunteer group, Friends of Hammonds Pond, said: “Many of you will already know but cygnets have been born again at Hammonds Pond. They’re about three-four weeks old now and thriving.

“We did lose one very early on we think to the heron but mama and papa are looking after them very well and keeping them safe.”
