THE behaviour of the council and Labour over Marlhill Copse beggar's belief.

Firstly the leader promises that the public will be able to influence the decision.

They didn't.

Then a report was secretly written saying how dangerous the trees are and they must come down at once.

So quickly must they be felled that it cannot wait a couple of days for a planning meeting.

The Cabinet have yet to say whether they actually read the report. (Too secret for mere councillors).

A judicial review was taken out and the felling was put on hold for three weeks whilst the council defended itself.

The same trees that were so dangerous that the council couldn't wait two days.

Did they put in measures to stabilise the trees - no. Nothing.

What must the near by home owners be thinking?

And now, the council have decided not to defend their actions I suspect because the report isn't quite as robust as they wanted us to believe.

The affair has been a shambles from start to finish, and then Cllr Hammond, the Leader of the Council, says don't attack us because we are clapping for the NHS every Thursday.

What a disgraceful statement - trying to use the NHS to hide his failings.

It has nothing to do with the NHS (and yes I work for the NHS), but everything to do with a lack of democracy and an utter contempt for the public's view.

Someone should resign for this.
