CONTROVERSIAL plans to convert an old church into new homes have been scrapped.

Six new homes were to be created at the former Methodist Church Hall in Bursledon.

Plans were tabled for two-one bedroom apartments and four studio-apartments at the building in School Road.

However, the plans faced fierce opposition with 12 objections lodged by residents.

Many cited overdevelopment of the area and a lack of parking.

The proposals made to Eastleigh Borough Council were withdrawn by the applicant on June 3.
