SEVERAL fire crews rushed to a Southampton tower block before it was discovered the incident was a false alarm caused by someone using an electronic cigarette.
Crews from a number of stations across the city and surrounding area were called to Havre Towers in International Way, Weston, on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire service had received reports of smoke coming from a flat window.
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Redbridge, Eastleigh, Totton and headquarters were mobilised at 1.31pm as smoke was seen coming out of a fourth-floor flat window.
"On arrival it was found to be caused by someone vaping.
"The stop message came in at 2.06pm."
