PASSENGERS could face rail disruption until this evening after a fallen tree has blocked the railway between Brockenhurst and Totton.

Rail chiefs are currently working on clearing the fallen tree from the line but warn that passengers heading towards Southampton could face significant delays until around 5pm this evening.

Train services running through this line may be cancelled, delayed or revised, while specialist teams work on clearing the tree from the track.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "Due to a tree blocking the railway between Brockenhurst and Totton the Southampton bound line is blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised and disruption is expected until 5pm this evening.

"Our specialist teams are en-route to clear the tree from the track. For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
