A SOUTHAMPTON man has died following a crash with a lorry.

The 43-year-old cyclist from Southampton was killed after his bike was involved in a collision with a lorry.

The fatal incident happened on Terminus Terrace near its junction with Captains Place at around 8am on Friday

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a police cordon was in place for much of the day.

Road closures were in place on Central Bridge and Terminus Terrace From Canute Road to the junction of Itchen Bridge.

Meanwhile, motorists were advised to take alternative routes.

According to police, the man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

They are now urging anyone who witnessed the crash or captured the incident on DashCam, to contact them on 101, quoting 44200211336.

A police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a fatal collision which took place on the A33 Terminus Terrace in Southampton on June 12.

“Officers were called to the road at around 8am after a lorry and a bicycle collided.

“The cyclist, a 43-year-old man from Southampton, died as a result of the collision.”

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services (HFRS) were also involved.

A spokesperson said: “Crews from St Mary’s and Redbridge were mobilised at 8.18am to Terminus Terrace.

“There was an RTC involving a lorry.

“HFRS provided assistance to police and the stop message came in at 9.05am.”

It is now the second fatal road incident in the city in just over 24 hours.

As previously reported a man in his 60s died in hospital following a serious scooter crash on Shirley Road.

Emergency services were called at 7.30am on Thursday following reports that a black and white-coloured Lexmoto Milano scooter collided with traffic lights at the junction with Waterloo Road.

The driver suffered serious injuries during the incident and was pronounced dead shortly after.
