HAMPSHIRE residents are being warned about a series of "suspicious" calls asking about loft insulation.

Officers have received a number of reports of residents from the Fareham and Hedge End areas being called from a local landline number stating that the loft insulation they had installed is causing issues of condensation in their loft space.

The caller then states that they have someone in the area who could carry out a survey later that day, and they also want to make clear that they are speaking to the homeowner on the phone.

Residents have now been advised that work should not be carried out as a result of a cold call.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Hampshire County Council, Trading Standards and the police advise residents not to agree to work that is instigated as a result of a cold call or via a leaflet drop. Residents should obtain at least 3 written quotes from reputable businesses or traders who are either members of the the above or a recognised trade association.

"If you do receive such a phone call then please report it via Citizen’s Advice Report a Scam page."
