A MOTORCYCLIST was injured following a crash on a major Southampton road.

A Southampton man in his 50s suffered minor injuries after crashing with a car.

The incident happened on the Redbridge Road at its junction with the A33 at around 1.30pm on Saturday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and two lanes of the southbound M271 were blocked.

Meanwhile motorists were warned of 20-minute delays.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.39pm on June 20 to a report of a collision on Redbridge Road at the junction of the A33 involving a car and motorcycle.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s from Southampton, suffered minor injuries."
