HORDES of people lined a street in Bradford city centre and set off what looked to be a flare to celebrate Liverpool winning the Premier League.

The Anfield outfit's 30-year wait for a top-flight trophy ended last night (Thursday) after Man City lost 2-1 to Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp's side needed one victory to seal the title before last night's fixture at Stamford Bridge, but City's failure to win means Liverpool were crowned champions as they cannot be caught.

The news sparked celebrations in the maritime city, but those scenes of jubilation were also replicated in Bradford late last night.

A member of the public, who wished to remain anonymous, witnessed around 70 to 80 people ("if not more") lining Duckworth Lane and celebrating the title at around 11.18pm.

They said: "I'm not one to normally moan about what's going on around but when it's this time of the night and my kids are asleep and keep waking up, crying, I'm not happy."

It was so loud, they wandered up the road to find crowds of people - some were wearing Liverpool football shirts, with two even waving flags.

One Liverpool fan at the celebration, Shaan Qureshi, said Thursday evening was the best night of his life.

He added: "I loved the atmosphere and the celebration and to think we won't be able to celebrate it properly due to COVID is rubbish, but last night was the closest we were going to get.

"It was great to see people of all races and sexes come together and celebrate.

"It just shows that even in recent times when race has been such a divisive thing, just a simple game of football can bring people together."

Cars were rolling up and down the road, honking their horns, as a number of police officers look to calm and control the furore.

Footage shows at one point what looks to be a flare being set-off in the street.

It begins to emit a red/pink-coloured smoke and a number of the people celebrating have to shield their faces.

The member of the public said they believed it was a smoke grenade.

Mr Qureshi said the celebration was all good-natured.

He added: "I didn't see any litter or waste being thrown, just a lot of flags and cheering.

"The police were present and actually facilitated the celebrations.

"This isn't a residential area, hence why the police allowed the cheering."
