A DRIVER, stopped by police, lied about his name and birthdate "because he didn’t want to get into trouble".
PC Claire Gray, a Roads Policing Officer for West Yorkshire Police, stopped a silver Volkswagen Golf TDI in Bradford yesterday, at around 6.31pm.
The driver provided the officer with a name and date-of-birth, but she was dubious about the information he had given.
PC Gray conducted further checks and questioning and her suspicions were confirmed.
The driver admitted to lying about both details "because he didn't want to get into trouble".
He had no insurance or a driving licence.
PC Gray seized the Golf as a result and the driver was reported to court.
PC Gray said: "Driver provided a name and date-of-birth which I was dubious about.
"After further checks and questioning he admitted to lying because he didn’t want to get into trouble."
