PLANNING chiefs have rejected plans to build an oak-framed garage in front of a Hampshire home.
An application relating to Nutmeg Cottage, Langley, has been rejected by New Forest District Council, which criticised the "excessive" size and height of the proposed development.
The applicant sought consent to build the garage near the front boundary of the property.
A report to councillors said high hedges would partly screen the building but not sufficiently to overcome its impact on the street scene.
It added that gardens made a positive contribution to the street, which it described as a narrow road with a semi-rural feel.
"Due to its location, forward of the building line, the outbuilding would be a discordant feature which would be unacceptably dominant."
