AN AMESBURY pub has thanked its customers for respecting social distancing and allowing it to reopen successfully.
The New Inn reopened its doors for the first time on Saturday, following a revamp and the introduction of Covid secure measures.
Landlord Nathan Muirhead said: "We had a fantastic weekend, topping 100 customers on Saturday evening. Social distancing and our in-house measures were respected by most. We made a call to close at 1.30am rather than 2am to reduce temptation of those who were a little tipsy!
"The staff did brilliantly too, keeping customers safe by serving at the table, sanitising regularly and monitoring levels of alcohol consumption.
"Those on the edge were asked to turn to soft drinks or head over for kebab on their way home!
"Overall we saw a 40 per cent increase in revenue compared to pre-lockdown which was a real help with our bounce back.
"Our refurbishment was well received, attracting customers that has not previously frequented The New Inn."
