Road deaths are no accident.
The RoadPeace 'Crash not accident' campaign ( https://www.roadpeace.org/take-action/crash-not-accident/ ) calls for an end to a language of neglect and denial.
Policy makers and the media must stop using the word ‘accident’ when referring to road crashes, and to adopt appropriate, constructive and accurate terminology such as crash or collision.
I thought it was worth making this point, considering the high proportion of Echo articles about road crashes and deaths (3/10 in 2 daily briefings I checked)
Hopefully the active travel initiatives brought in by our council will reduce the crashes, deaths and the cost to the NHS.
Please let your councillors know if you like the changes, as those who don't put people first are definitely letting their councillors know.
