POLICE have confirmed they are investigating racist tweets allegedly posted by a Winchester city councillor.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said officers are looking into the account @Clem205.
One tweet says: “Islam will not stop until it rules the world because “paradise awaits” a martyr. Hell is full of them”.

The police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we have received a report in relation to tweets posted by a Winchester councillor.
"This was reported to us on June 23 and the allegation is being investigated. We ask that anyone with information contacts us on 101, quoting the reference 44200227899."
The Denmead ward representative is also being investigated by the national Conservative Party, and is currently listed as an independent councillor on the city council website.
