THIS chilly looking picture was taken in Above Bar looking up towards The Junction and London Road.
The date is December 5, 1950 and shoppers cautiously traverse the slippery pavements.
One man walks along with a newspaper tucked securely under his arm while others, presumably shop workers, busily clear snow from the fronts of the buildings.
On the left is the popular women's clothing store Van Allan and beside that is Hampshire Furnishing Co.

The scene looks very different today as Guildhall Square dominates the area to the left of the picture.
