POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Hampshire.
Just after midnight on July 11 a serious assault took place in Forton Road in Gosport.
At this time, there are no details on the victim's condition or the offender(s).
Officers investigating the assault are appealing for witnesses and have assured residents that this was an "isolated incident" with no wider threat to the community.
In a statement on Twitter, a Gosport Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after midnight this morning (July 11), there was a serious assault in the Forton Road area of Gosport.
"We would like to take the opportunity to reassure our communities and stress that we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no wider threat to anyone else."
Today, officers have been providing a "high-visibility" presence in the area throughout the day.
