THIS dramatic night scene dates back to the 1905 when Southampton’s main railway station was known as Southampton West.
It was in 1935 when the name changed to Southampton Central.
A wide ranging modernisation scheme in the early 1970s swept away much of the old station including the distinctive clock tower that was once a local landmark.
