THIS picture shows a unique view of Lordshill District Centre in 1980.
In the background is the space Oaklands swimming pool now occupies.
Taken from the roof of The Mountbatten pub the area still appears bright and relatively new.
The building of J Sainsbury dominates the view as vehicles of the time can be seen ferrying eager shoppers to and from the retail centre.
The concrete hippos once synomonous with the area can be seen in the centre of the image.
