SALISBURY’S beauty salons, tattoo studios, spa and therapist centres have reopened as government restrictions continue to ease.

Salisbury city centre health, wellbeing and beauty businesses are busy implementing the COVID Secure guidance and are preparing for their reopening.

Salisbury BID is encouraging the local community to show their support for the city centre’s health, wellbeing and beauty businesses, who have been closed for 112 days due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The businesses which have reopened today include:

Monday, July 13

  • The Therapy Centre, 57 Winchester Street
  • Salisbury Nails, 12 Milford Street
  • Luxury Nails, 9 Minster Street
  • Jacquis Sunbed Studio, 48 Winchester Street

The BID have also provided a list of things to expect when visiting a health and beauty business:

  • Facial treatments including face waxing, eyelash treatment, make-up application and facial treatments are not permitted (due to the high risk of transmission)
  • They will have done risk assessments for all other activities, to make sure they are safe to do
  • Practitioners will be wearing a suitable protection, such as a clear visor that covers the face
  • You may be asked to wear a mask as well
  • Where appropriate, screens and barriers will be in place to protect clients and practitioners
  • Where practical, gloves will be worn to avoid skin to skin contact
  • Appointment-only booking systems will most likely be in place, so make sure you book in advance
  • Food and drink will not be permitted
  • Disposable equipment will be used where possible
  • Increased hand washing, surface cleaning and equipment cleaning will take place

Close contact businesses have been told they must keep temporary contact details and records of all customers for 21 days in case there is an outbreak.

This is to support the NHS Test and Trace service. Customers can be contacted if they’ve been in close contact with an infected individual.

James Barnett, Salisbury BID Director and owner of The Therapy Centre on Winchester Street, said: “It feels like it’s been a long time coming, but I’m over the moon we’ve been given the green light to reopen and get back to doing what we love.

"Whilst we have been closed, we’ve been busy preparing and putting all the necessary measures in place to protect our clients and colleagues. I’m confident we can now safely reopen.

“I’m sure I speak for all local businesses in saying we look forward to welcoming existing and new clientele through our doors. I’m also sure the Salisbury community will come out and support our city’s health, wellbeing and beauty businesses in their efforts to help get our local economy going again.”
