A MAN has been given a driving ban after he was caught on the road with more than double the driving limit of a controlled drug in his blood.

Tyrone Geoffrey Harding, of Valerian Road, in Hedge End, drove a car at Little Hatts Recreation Ground in Botley with 5.6 microgrammes of Class B drug cannabis in his blood.

The legal drug driving threshold for cannabis is two microgrammes.

The 19-year-old was also found in possession of cannabis on the same day, a court heard.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates Court, Harding pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a drug and one count of driving under the influence.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £450.

Harding was also ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
