SOUTHAMPTON has seen a sharp rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the past week.
The latest weekly update by Public Health England shows that infection rates have more than doubled - rising from 2.4 cases for every 100,000 residents to 5.9.
Test Valley has also seen a significant increase in infection rates, which have risen from 0.0 to 4.0.
But other parts of Hampshire have either stayed the same or seen an improvement in their figures.

Eastleigh has gone from 4.6 to 3.8, the New Forest has dropped from 2.8 to 2.2, and Fareham has gone from 2.6 to 1.7.
A decrease has also been recorded in Winchester, where the figure has declined from 1.6 to 0.8. Gosport is still on 2.3.
New data is released each week and shows how rates of positive coronavirus tests are changing in each area. The tests are carried out both in laboratories and in the wider community.
The rate is expressed as the new number of new cases per 100,000 population.
The latest figures cover the seven days to July 26.
