THE areas of each Hampshire council with the most deaths due to coronavirus have been revealed.

It comes after it was reported that the highest numbers of deaths linked to coronavirus  in Southampton were of Central Southampton West, and Woolston, new figures show.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics, which break down the number of deaths involving Covid-19 to areas within local authorities, showed 16 people died in both Central Southampton West, and Woolston with the virus between March and June.

Deprived areas across England had death rates related to Covid-19 of more than double that of the most affluent parts – 139.6 per 100,000 compared to 63.4.

In Southampton, 165 people have died since the start of the pandemic with seven deaths linked to coronavirus in June.

  • In Eastleigh ​West End and Chartwell Green has had more deaths linked to the coronavirus than anywhere else in Eastleigh, new figures show.

At the other end of the scale, two areas had two recorded deaths – the lowest of Eastleigh's 15 areas.

  • In Test Valley, North Baddesley and Braishfield has had more deaths linked to the coronavirus than anywhere else in Test Valley, new figures show.

At the other end of the scale, two areas had one recorded death – the lowest of New Forest's 23 areas.

  • In Winchester ​The highest numbers of deaths linked to coronavirus have happened in the areas of Denmead and Southwick, and Winchester West, new figures show.

At the other end of the scale, Winchester Stanmore had one recorded death – the lowest of Winchester's 14 areas.

  • In Havant, South Hayling has had more deaths linked to the coronavirus than anywhere else in Havant, new figures show.

At the other end of the scale, Cowplain West had one recorded death – the lowest of Havant's 17 areas.
