There’s nothing quite like the feeling of realising you’ve not got anything for dinner and have to get a cheeky takeaway instead. 

But decisions, decisions, decisions…do you go for an Indian, a pizza or Thai? 

With the introduction of delivery apps the possibilities are endless as to what to choose. 

You can go for a classic take-out, get something a bit healthy or go wild and try something completely new. 

But sometimes all of this can be a bit overwhelming when you’re hungry and you just want to know where the best place is. 

So to make it a bit easier for you we’ve compiled a list of Tripadvisor’s top five independent restaurant deliveries in Southampton: 

POPSI'S

Opening times:

Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 3pm to 9pm

Friday and Saturday - 3pm to 10pm

POPSI'S pizza restaurant opened in May 2018 and can be found on Bedford Place.

All pizzas are hand crafted and cooked in a traditional stone oven.

The Director of Popsi's, David Hearth, said: "I think our customers love POPSI’S because we make everything from scratch.

We are a small independent business who are passionate about fresh great tasting pizza and reasonable prices, no gimmicks!"

Throughout lockdown POPSI'S has offered a make-at-home delivery kit as well as the traditional pizza delivery service. 

One happy customer said: "The pizza was delicious with a perfect crust which was doughy but crisp and loaded with generous authentic toppings.

"Best of all, despite having to deal with a hectic rush of Saturday night orders whilst social distancing the service was still friendly and safe."

Dhaba59

Opening times:

Tuesday to Thursday - 5pm to 10pm

Friday and Saturday - 5pm to 11pm

Sunday - 4pm to 9pm

Located on Oxford Street, Dhaba59 is an Indian street food and tapas restaurant. 

The restaurant is participating in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme from August 3 to August 31.

With over 100 'excellent' reviews, owner Manish and all the staff have built quite a significant customer base. 

One raving reviewer said: "The food was delicious and more "traditional" in style than your typical Indian restaurant.

"The owner was happy to take the time talking to me about the menu and the food was all good quality too, especially the meat."

Tandoori

Opening times:

Tuesday to Thursday - 5.30pm to 10pm

Friday and Saturday - 5.30pm to 10.30pm

Sunday - 5.30pm to 10pm

Tandoori is an authentic Indian restaurant serving north Indian cuisine and can be found at 48 Portsmouth Road.

The restaurant opened in 2006 and has been specialising in Tandoori dishes and curries such as the rogan josh and biriani. 

The restaurant has had over 200 'excellent' reviews with customers claiming it is the "best Indian restaurant in Southampton". 

Bayleaf Kitchen

Opening times:

Daily - 12pm to 2pm then, 5.30pm to 11pm

The Bayleaf Kitchen is on the High Street close to West Quay. 

The head chef at the Bayleaf Kitchen, Mukesh Sharma, has a Guinnes World Record for biggest Naan bread in the world, with Hampshire Fire and Rescue service. 

Mr Sharma has also worked at a variety of five star hotels in India.

Rated as one of the best takeaways in Southampton it is no suprise that the reviews say just that.

One customer said: "An amazing takeaway. It was easy to order, arrived on time, piping hot and tasted amazing!"

The Bayleaf Kitchen has also been awarded the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award 2020. 

Pho Vietnam

Opening times:

Monday and Tuesday - 12pm to 3pm then, 5.30pm to 9pm
Wednesday to Saturday - 12pm to 3pm then, 5.30pm to 10pm

Pho Vietnam is located on Portswood Road and serves traditional Vietnamese meals. 

The restaurant has been awarded the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award 2020. 

One happy customer said: "Amazing quality Vietnamese food, fairly priced and super friendly service every time we visit! I could not recommend the restaurant more."
