BINGO-lovers across Southampton can soon play their favourite game after months of closures.

Although Buzz Bingo has announced its Antelope Park base is set to permanently close, they are planning to reopen their Lordshill hall soon.

Set to reopen to customers on Thursday August 6, they will announced enhanced safety measures will be in place to keep customers and colleagues safe.

It is one of the few to remain open, as Buzz Bingo are permanently closing 26 of its bingo halls - including its venue in Antelope Park on Bursledon Road - which has put 573 jobs at risk.

The club, in Lordshill District Centre, Southampton, was closed in March due to the coronavirus lockdown and will be reopening in the first wave of the businesses’ plan for a phased reopening across the estate.

And as a thanks to local NHS workers for their tireless efforts during the pandemic, Buzz Bingo is also introducing a new feature in its main event games.

NHS Lucky Stars will form part of the regular games and see 5p from the sale of every paper book or electronic touch pad package donated to the NHS.

Peter Brigden, Chief Retail Officer at Buzz Bingo, said: “It has been a long few months without seeing our lovely customers and we cannot wait to reopen our club doors on 6 August. The club is at the heart of the community and offers an open and friendly space for members to be amongst friends while they enjoy a game of bingo or play slots.

“We’ve spent the last few months eagerly preparing for their [customer's] return and putting all the necessary measures in place to keep them safe.

Amongst safety measures will be perplex screens, a new maximum capacity, sanitising stations, some seats marked as ‘out of use’ for social distancing, and contactless card payments up to £45.
