AS SOUTHAMPTON City Council's electric vans are replacing the existing diesel fleet, and will be using 100% renewable energy, one hopes that all the charging points will be connected to the geothermal plant.
Geothermal and hydro are the only true 100% guaranteed supply of renewable electricity. Anything else will not be fossil free.
Wind and solar require backup when the sun does not shine, ie night time, and the wind doesn't blow.
