IT'S SAD to read the negative letters about the wonderful work Southampton City Council are carrying out to make cycling in Southampton safer.
I am a 68-year-old motorist, bus user and cyclist. The biggest deterrent to me cycling in the city is finding 'safe' routes to cycle.
The new cycle lanes separating cars, bikes and pedestrians are ideal as we each have our own space and can all travel more confidently.
We need to reduce our dependence on the internal combustion engine, and increasing bike use is one way.
Look at the improvement to air quality during lockdown.
Well done Southampton City Council.
