A group of eight friends are due to walk from Brighton to Bursledon for charity

The men undertaking the challenge will start from Brighton Pier at 11pm on the 4 September, and walk through the night to their favourite pub, The Linden Tree, in Bursledon.

The journey is around 90km long and is expected to take them about 20 hours to complete, all in aid of the Alzheimer's Society.

Adie Sheath, one of the walkers said: "A couple of years ago, my brother, who is part of the team, and a couple of mates, walked to Bournemouth.

"It came up on my Facebook memories about three weeks ago and one of us said 'What are we going to do now then?'"

"One of our friends said he would like to do the Alzheimer's Society.

"Everyone said they were up for it as I think pretty much all of us in the team have had someone in our families suffer from Dementia or Alzheimers.

The group have raised over £2,500 so far for their charity.

Adie said: "Everyone is taking spare clothes, socks and shorts as we don't even know what the weather is going to be like.

"Most of us are going to have energy gels like marathon runners use, and blister plasters obviously as there will probably be quite a few of those.

"We have a target of £5,000, but once we reach that we will obviously carry on and try to raise as much money as possible."
