A BMW was stopped by police, who said the vehicle had no insurance.
Officers questioned the driver after ordering the vehicle to stop on Kirkhope Drive in Halliwell.
And police said he told them that he was a named driver on a motability insurance policy for a different vehicle to the BMW.
He already had six points on his licence, police added.
A police spokesman added: "No insurance held for the BMW and it's off to the compound."
