A COURT hearing over travellers in a Winchester park and ride site has been dropped because the group has moved on. leaving litter and debris.
Travellers stopped at the Pitt Village car park last month and there were also stops at Eversley Park, Kings Worthy.
Winchester City Council applied for a removal order at Basingstoke Magistrates Court but there was no hearing on Wednesday as the travellers had left.
A local resident, who asked not to be named, said the group went on Monday: "Large vehicles towing caravans made a swift exit all at once, at speed.
"Locals were dismayed at the sight of litter strewn across the car park including shoes, baby toys and rubbish all over the ground as well as dumped in the hedgerows. A burnt bike lay in a heap of ashes from a fire, in the middle of the car park."
